Stewart Rosen
Latin Grammy-winning bassist and four-time Grammy Educator Award Quarterfinalist Stewart
Rosen is the Director of Orchestras and Jazz Ensembles at Walter Reed Middle School and Jazz
Ensemble Director at Los Angeles Pierce College. He is also holds the position of section bass at
San Luis Obispo Symphony. As the bassist for Tinto Tango, he performed on the albums Tinto
Tango Plays Piazzolla (2021) and Alma (2024). Mr. Rosen has appeared with renowned
ensembles including the San Francisco Symphony, Burbank Philharmonic, Symphony Silicon
Valley, Bakersfield Symphony, Desert Symphony, Pacific Opera Project, Enchanted Strings,
Southeast Symphony and many more.
Mr. Rosen also arranges big band charts with a focus on underrepresented instruments and
styles. As a dedicated educator, he has presented clinics at CASMEC, SCSBOA, CSUN, and
LASMTA. He also hosts the annual Walter Reed Jazz Festival, which is in its 6 th year, and has
brought together the jazz education community in the Los Angeles Valley.
Mr. Rosen holds a B.A. in Music Education from CSUN, an M.M. in String Bass Performance
from UCLA, and a Professional Studies Diploma from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music.
